Terenure quickly equalised through Kevin McKechnie when David Smith played an excellent through ball, which Kevin McKechnie drilled into the bottom right corner giving the goalkeeper no chance.
Into the second half as Terenure pushed for the winner good chances were created with Sam Lenihan coming closest with a shot that came back of the bar however the game ended a scoring draw.

Cup Win
Terenure stun Croftwood to make the quarter-finals

UCFL - Division 2

TERENURE FC pulled off a superb 3-1 penalty shootout victory over Croftwood to book their place in the quarter finals of the UCFL Leslie Reynolds Cup in the VEC Grounds on Saturday.

With the visitors having remained unbeaten so far this season, dishing out two heavy defeats to Terenure in the process, they were hot favourites to progress.
Yet the hosts had other ideas on this occasion and after forcing extra time when deadlocked at 2-2, they managed to hold their nerve in the eventual shootout.
It was Croftwood who were out of the blocks first when Kevin Brennan chested down a high ball and slotted it home to the bottom corner from some 12 yards out.
Yet a poor clearance allowed Graham White the chance to bring Terenure level, and he grasped the opportunity with both hands, chipping the goalkeeper from 30-yards out.
It was not long, however, before the travelling party were back in front after centre half Matthew Cullen sent a powerful header to the roof of the net.
Still Terenure were not about to be denied further passage and preserved their title hopes when substitute Clive Dalton found the target following a tremendous run down the left wing by White 15 minutes from time.
With extra time failing to separate the sides, it was left to a shootout to determine who made the last eight although it did not look promising for the homeside when Declan Murtagh and John Walsh both missed from the spot.
Yet Terenure goalkeeper David Bourke emerged a real hero, pulling off three saves and leaving the way open for Dalton to despatch the decisive penalty which he did in style.
